In the article the features of structure, change and functioning of the personal pronouns are examined in Russian from positions of historical linguistics. Reasons of appearance of letter н are analyzed in the indirect cases of the personal pronouns he, she, it, and also difference of forms direct and indirect cases of the same pronoun
