О ЗНАЧЕНИИ КАТЕГОРИИ РОДА В ЯЗЫКЕ

In the article some features of category of gender are examined from position of comparative linguistics. It turns out that in many languages the distribution of nouns after genders took place on a sign “living” (masculine or feminine) – “lifeless” (neuter). The same word, depending on that, it was examined as a material object or as divine, motive force, it could be described both as neuter or masculine/feminine. Conclude, that the category of gender very often depended on the religious looks of our ancestors.
