Cambridge Analytica: A Property-Based Solution

Description

The 2018 Cambridge Analytica scandal exposed the concern that current privacy regulation is not sufficient to regulate data. In response, this paper proposes a property-based solution, arguing that only by recognizing the property right toward data, a more comprehensive regulatory system can be established. Concerning the current development of the information society, property rights should be granted toward Data Analytical Products and databases. Thus, as a new data regulation covering the two new types of data property will be constructed, the datadriven economy can be regulated and consumer privacy can be protected.
