РЕТРОСПЕКТИВА ИССЛЕДОВАНИЯ РЕЧЕВОГО ТВОРЧЕСТВА (на материале инновационной лексики англоязычного академического дискурса)

The article is devoted to the speech creativity research retrospective the results of which have been received within the framework of the scientific school “Linguistic research as a theoretical foundation for training specialists who meet modern world requirements and standards” operating at Kharkiv University of Humanities “People’s Ukrainian Academy” under the guidance of the professor T.M. Tymoshenkova. Nonce words actualized in the English academic discourse, which is characterized by certain participants, chronotope, genres, communicative strategies, are considered as a means of expressing linguocreative potential. Nonce words characterized by anthropocentricity, discursiveness, novelty, derivativeness, contextuality, non-codification are opposed to neologisms that are a part of the language system. Structural and semantic features of nonce words have been analyzed. The most productive ways of nonce words formation include word-formation, telescoping, and affixation. Semantic transposition, reduction, and conversion are revealed as unproductive word formation ways. Particular attention is paid to the strategy of translating nonce words that includes a structural-semantic analysis of a unit taking into account sociocultural knowledge and transferring it by means of the language of translation with the help of such translation transformations as a functional analogue, explication, compensation, calquing, transcoding, and new words creation. The interpretation of a nonce word implies the conveying the meaning while retaining the expressive components of an original word. The method of compilation of neolexicographic editions has been presented to systematize nonce words with the help of parameters providing units with linguistic and socio-cultural information. Research prospects lie in the analysis of administrative-academic discourse, its genre forms and communicative-stylistic features of the American and British higher educational institutions leaders’ discourse the results of which allow to create a linguocultural portrait of a university head for further comparative studies.
