CROSSBOW - CROSS-BORDER MANAGEMENT OF VARIABLE RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES AND STORAGE UNITS THAT ENABLE A TRANSNATIONAL WHOLESALE MARKET

Description

ABSTRAct

CROSSBOW is a scientific research project funded by the European Commission within the H2020 program (LCE-04-2017 Demonstration of system integration with smart transmission grid and storage technologies with increasing share of renewables). The project proposes a shared use of resources for mitigating cross-border management of variable energy sources and storage units, enabling a higher degree of integration of clean energy, while reducing operational costs of network operation and increasing the economic benefits of renewable sources and storage units. The goal of the project is to demonstrate a number of different, although complementary technologies, offering greater flexibility and robustness to transmission system operators. The results of the project will be evaluated by 8 system operators in Southeastern Europe, grouped in clusters, that will validate each output of the project in at least three different countries, demonstrating in all cases when CROSSBOW overcomes the transnational challenges that the system's operators encounter. This paper will describe the purpose of the project, the way of organization, the timeframe, the manner of demonstration, the expected results, and their possible application.
