Thecacineta urceolata Liao and Dovgali 2015

Description

Thecacineta urceolata Liao and Dovgalı 2015

Report as epibiont on nematodes

The suctorian was found colonising the body surface of nematode Desmodora pontica (Filipjevı 1922) from a seagrass bed of Thalassia hemprichii at Shihlangı Ludaoı Taiwan (Liao and Dovgal 2015).

Ansari et al. (2017) reported this species on Desmodora species in carbonate sediments of the Suvadiva lagoon bottom (Maldivı Arabian Sea) at a water depth 63 m.

Remarks

Liao and Dovgal (2015) have considered that the cuticular ornamentation may provide proper attached points for the ciliatesı and that the head region possibly has similar source benefits with the cloaca of hosts for these ecto-commensals.
