Report on additional CDW

The purpose of this document is the identification of additional or alternative CDWs with high technical and economic potential. The main sources of CDWs are the construction and demolition works. These primary waste streams need to meet certain quality parameters (e.g. adequate purity, moisture content, size fraction) in order to be reused and in some cases complicated processing may be required. In many cases, the degree of contamination prevents its use for more demanding technologies. International Synergies research for Alternative Raw Materials for Construction has identified a potential pool of more than 17 million tonnes of alternative raw materials generated each year and available for re-use by the construction industry. This report aims to identify alternative CDW sources from the industry, trade and services sectors.
