IPSL-CM5A2-diags: Jupyter notebook first release

  • 1. CNRS-Climate and Environment Sciences Laboratory (LSCE)
  • 2. Climate and Environment Sciences Laboratory (LSCE)

Description

This is the first release of the Jupyter notebook describing most of the analyses from Sepulchre et al. manuscript "IPSL-CM5A2. An Earth System Model designed for multi-millennial climate simulations" now published in Geoscientific Model Development (https://www.geosci-model-dev.net/).

The notebook uses netcdf files stored on the French supercomputer JOLIOT-CURIE (http://www-hpc.cea.fr/en/complexe/tgcc-JoliotCurie.htm) through vesg.ipsl.upmc.fr and thredds. It describes the building of most of the figures presented in the manuscript. The authors wish to acknowledge use of the Ferret (pyferret) program for analysis and graphics in this paper. Ferret is a product of NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. (Information is available at http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/ and https://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/documentation/pyferret) The notebook uses the ferretmagic package to use NOAA pyferret embedded in the Jupyter notebook. More information here: https://github.com/PBrockmann/ipython_ferretmagic

Most colored figures in this paper were made with perceptually uniform, colour-vision-deficiency friendly scientific colormaps, developed and distributed by Fabio Crameri : http://www.fabiocrameri.ch/colourmaps.php.

The notebook can be executed interactivaly through binder by clicking here (Be patient or go & get a coffee: it might take up to 8 minutes to build at first launch, watch the build logs).
