THE COMMON AND DISTINCTIVE PHONETIC-PHONOLOGICAL FEATURES OF THE POSTERIOR / PARIETAL MONOPHTHONGS /a/ IN ROUMANIAN AND /ᴧ/ IN ENGLIS
Description
The clear and intelligible pronunciation is one of the keys of ef!icient communication in English. The phonetico-phonological analysis of the elements of the English language guarantees the process of teaching and learning it. The use of the English back monophthong /ᴧ/ is of great importance for the glotodidactical aspect for delimiting its common and distinctive features with the Romanian /ɑ/. The investigation of this problem from the acoustic and articulatory points of view has been done to avoid making mistakes in the articulation and pronunciation of these two monophthongs, English /ᴧ/ and Romanian /ɑ/
