Minimal Teaching Skills for Higher Education Teachers – a Global Debate amongst Experts in Higher Education Teaching and Learning
Description
What are the minimal teaching skills for a novice teacher in higher education to successfully survive the first years of teaching? After 19 years working as an academic advisor in Switzerland and abroad, the author of this article has attempted to summarize the essentials in a publication called “Competence-Oriented Teaching and Learning in Higher Education – Essentials” (Bachmann, 2018). To verify the appropriateness of the selection in the book, a survey was conducted amongst 25 higher education teaching and learning specialists from Europe, the Americas, Australia, Asia, Middle East and North Africa. This article presents and discusses in detail the feedback obtained.
