The article presents the results of theoretical researching of the problem of formation of active life position of elderly people. Bilingualism is seen as one of the determinants of life motivation, increased of life resistance, rethinking of being and activating interest in the inner personal resources of an older person.
Active life position of the elderly people - is the ability to adequately correlate changing environmental conditions with personal claims, to rethink and adopt the formed system of values of own’s life, optimally use own personal resources to solve new life tasks.
Bilingualism as a means of enhancing a person’s cognitive resources, expands its communicative possibilities, reduces barriers of misunderstanding between generations, allows to solve problems independently and focus on the processes of surrounding reality. Mastering and using everyday foreign language activate elderly person’s mnemonic flexibility, develops cognitive multitasking, promotes self-confidence of own possibilities, alters world perception, filling it with new meaning.
