Jak bronić się przed tyranem? Kilka filozoficznych uwag o politycznej trosce

  • 1. Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski Univeristy

Description

Philosophy and Philosophers were always connected with Despots – either advising or criticizing him. In Plato’s political thought Tyrant is a man, who radically betrays the principles of governance. But the tyranny system is presented by him as natural necessity of the adoption of di€erent principles of governing than rules, which should be applied in kallipolis. Aristotle evidences three basic aims of Despot’s government (pusillanimity, incredulity and powerlessness in action), which can be used as means of defense before him. John of Salisbury directly connects the tyranny with immorality and dominance over all. St. Thomas Aquinas emphasizes means of defense to protect from Despot so that he could not come to power and that the peace - fundamental political principle – was not destroyed.
