Creators
Description
The artistic watermarking, realised by fretting or piercing the metal, is a working technique which consists of creating a real metal lace with the help of a thin wire and laminated twisted metal wires, a technique combined with casting and varnishing. The filigree was used for the execution of pieces of worship of artistic and historical value – candles, censers, bowls – documented in museums and places of worship’ collections of the country. The watermarking holds a special place in RSS Moldovan and Republic of Moldova jewelers’ creation: Vladimir Vasilkov, Iuri Pavlov, Vladimir Kalasnikov, Gheorghe Cojusnean, Alexei Marco, Iuri Leonov, Vasili Sochin, who created a series of articles, in which the filigree has a main place or is an additional element of a piece’s decor.
