The subject of the article is the study of the peculiarities of the implementation of a special task on disclosure of criminal activities of organized groups or criminal organizations.

Secret investigative (search) actions are the most effective method of combating against organized criminality. These actions are using only to the most serious crimes. The main purpose of the special task is to detect and prevent crimes. For this purpose, an agent is involved in a criminal group under cover. The object of the special task can be only an organized group or a criminal organization.

Confidential cooperation is widely using in the United States of America. The main body that controls undercover operations is the FBI. The most qualified and experienced undercover agents are working in the FBI. In the US there is a good policy of protecting agents. Ukraine can use the experience of the US to improve the institute of secret investigative (search) actions.
