  • 2008, respectively). However, with an ecology involving transport on sea-going turtles, Hexapleomera has perhaps the greatest facility of any tanaidacean for wide, and perhaps panoceanic, distribution. While the commonly recorded host, Caretta caretta, lives in distinct breeding sub-populations, there is clear evidence for extensive migrations outside the breeding period (e.g. Bowen et al. 2005; Watanabe et al. 2011), some extending between the Atlantic coasts of North America and the Mediterranean.
