Python scripts for sampling Gill anemometer and weather serial data

  • 1. Institute of Coastal Research, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Max-Planck-Str. 1, 21502 Geesthacht, Germany

Description

These two scripts allow to use a Raspberry Pi (for example) as a data logger for Gill Windmaster and Maximet serial data, respectively. The incoming data are written in a text file. A new file is automatically created every 30 minutes. Samples are time-stamped using the Pi's system time, with millisecond precision. Thanks to these scripts, the Raspberry Pi can be used as an alternative, to, for example, a Campbell Scientific data logger. Note: here, a USB to serial adapter hub was used to connect the instruments to the Raspberry Pi.
