Arctic is a unique region of our planet and a strategic part of the geographical north of the Russian Federation. Being an ecosystem of high conservation value and the most important climatic region in the world, the Arctic basin is at the same time the place where the most precious geological resources are stored. This necessarily results in the intensive human activities in the region. Risk assessment is crucial for understanding environmental crisis situations caused by human activities in such region. It is furthermore necessary to understand possible environmental responses and triggered processes of chain reaction within the ecosystems. The present work was aimed at zoning Arctic basin in accordance to the environmental risks associated with human activities in the high north.
