Report on EPOS e-infrastructure prototype

Jörn Lauterjung; Keith G Jeffery; Daniele Bailo; Frieder Euteneuer; Damian Ulbricht

This report describes the state and plans of the EPOS WP6 WG7 (e-infrastructure) team as of M42 of the project. Briefly, the team has produced:

  1. a)  RIDE: an inventory of assets in the community covering everything from people and their skills through data and software to computing facilities, laboratory equipment and instru- ments / detectors;

  2. b)  an architectural design for the EPOS e-infrastructure which is being implemented in three increasingly well-defined stages.

  3. c)  a collection of use cases which inform the architectural design including required facilities and service;

  4. d)  a demonstator web application to demonstrate (i) the architecture is appropriate (ii) the architecture satisfies the requirements; (iii) the architecture is flexible and extensible with respect to future requirements – but for a limited set of requirements and limited sources of information (including other extant systems).
