Pyen 261 wordlist, Speaker B

Draft English/Burmese/Shan wordlist and files for 261 Pyen words collected from Speaker B.

6 'throat' is incorrectly translated into Burmese as 'neck', so 'neck' was elicited.

12 'womb' was initially recorded as 13 'buttock'. 13 'buttock' was later recorded at the beginning of file '021 to 030'.

36 'earwax' was initially recorded as 37 'tears'. 37 'tears' was recorded immediately after.

95 'swelling' was cut off in the recording, but the first two syllables in 94 'abscess' are the Pyen term for 'swelling'.

141 was recorded with the English gloss 'pity' instead of 'shame', but the Pyen word recorded is the term for 'shame'.

186 was mistakenly omitted in the elicitation.

Two separate terms for 204 were recorded, 'grandmother' and 'grandfather'.

The additional term 'Pyen ethnic group' was recorded in 234, alternating with the term 'ethnic group' in the recording.

Speaker B could not recall the Pyen terms for 7, 11, 14, 22, 28, 115 and 205-215, but knew most of the terms existed.
