СТРУКТУРИРОВАНИЕ СЛОВООБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНОГО ГНЕЗДА МНОГОЗНАЧНОГО СЛОВА

The largest structural complex unit of word-formation – word family, and specifically the
word family of a polysemantic word, is analyzed. The article deals with the issue of a word family
structure taking into account semantic volume of a source word. The necessity of distinction between
word-family of lexemes (polysemantic word) and word-family of sememes (lexico-semantic variant of the
same word) is justified. There are derivational word families with polysemantic source word
containing the derivatives in the specialized lexicographical editions. The motivating generative can
be various LSVs of one lexeme for the derivatives, but it is not shown in the word family structure.
There isn’t a tendency to distinguish word families on grounds of monosemy/ polysemy of source words in
modern derivatology. The objective of the research is to prove that the word families should be interpreted
as the divergent word families. Divergence represents the multidimensional configuration formed
by sememe word-family of a given polysemantic lexeme, whereas word family dictionaries explain the
combination of hierarchically arranged derivatives with a mutual polysemantic source word regardless of
distinction of derivational activity of various lexico-semantic variants of that kind of word. Word family
with a polysemantic source word is identified as a divergent and the convergent part of the word forms the
typical word family of a lexeme. Typical word family includes the derivatives formed by all the lexicosemantic
variants of a polysemantic source word. The absence of a convergent part may have indirectly a tendency towards the split of polysemy of a source word to homonymy. The perspective of the study is determined
by the necessity to analyze the divergent word families of the words of various lexico-semantic
groups.
