Description

The meeting report from the 11th Session of the Climate and Cryosphere Project (CliC) Scientific Steering Group (SSG 11) which took place from February 9 to 12, 2015 is now available. The meeting was hosted by Alex Jahn and Marika Holland at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), in Boulder, Colorado, USA. Thirty-eight participants, including 10 SSG members, attended the meeting in-person and others participated online.

During the first two days, project leaders reviewed the progress made on ongoing CliC efforts as well as the limited-lifetime targeted activities and discussed new emerging activities, including the WCRP Grand Challenges. A joint CliC-NCAR seminar was held on Tuesday afternoon featuring presentations from scientists from the University of Colorado, the Niels Bohr institute, NASA, and NCAR. Wednesday was dedicated to strengthening collaborations with our other WCRP core projects and cross-cutting working groups, and some CliC’s many collaborators. On Thursday, the discussions emanating from the meeting were summarized and CliC’s way forward was discussed. The CliC SSG members and staff then met during a closed session to make decisions on the budget, SSG membership, and future plans.
