EFFECT OF EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION ON ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND EMISSION ON VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO ENGINE

Description

An internal combustion engine is having a better ef ficiency, maximum power with less maintenance cost. Because of that Internal Combustion Engines are inc reased worldwide. It is the very important power so urce for the automobile vehicles. Now a present emission nor m becomes strict and very difficult for any I.C. En gine. The main pollutant are CO,CO2,HC,NOx,PM,soot,etc from which NOx are one of the most harmful componen t. Nitric Oxide affects the human, other living organi sms and environment. It is possible to limit the NO x in the atmosphere by various methods like exhaust gas reci rculation (EGR),catalyst or SCR and water injectio n. The aim of this work is to find the effect of exhaust g as recirculation (EGR) to reduce the NOx emission f rom the I. C. Engine with measuring the all pollutants for dif ferent EGR rate with different load condition and f ind the optimum condition of emission and performance. It i s found that adding EGR to the fresh air it is usef ul to reduce the NOx emission. Reductions in NOx emission are achieved by previous research with 5% to 30% E GR rate. However,EGR has other effects on combustion and emission production.
