Dinamica finantarii cercetarii in tarile emergente, Romania si capcana veniturilor medii.
Description
The dynamic of the general expenditures on research and development (GERD) over the last three decades is different in Romania, compared with every other developed or emerging country. GERD did not increase after 2008. This suggests that Romania risks falling, again, in a middle income trap, after the current reindustrialisation process finishes absorbing all the low-wage low qualifications workforce from the subsistence agriculture sector. We explore the various hypotheses that have been proposed for explaining this phenomenon and their limitations.
