tci20111107 - Ebar zan

Description

This recording is a story about a head hunting raid on the village of Firra that took place in the 1920s. The story was told by Maraga Kwozi, whose grandfather had survived the attack. In another recording (tci20111119-01), Abia Bai tells another episode of this headhunting raid. The story was told in Morehead, Western Province, Papua New Guinea.

The material was recorded by Christian Döhler as part of a language documentation project for his PhD. The project was located at the School of Culture, History and Language at the Australian National University, Canberra. For the most part it was funded by the DOBES project of the Volkswagen Foundation.
