Menyibak Sikap Ke-Beragama-an Jawa: Studi Kasus Novel-Novel Jawa Prakemerdekaan
Description
This article aims to explain how the attitude of the Javanese people's religion or society is reflected in the modern literary works (novels) of Java published before the independence of Indonesia (1920-1945). Can a person's or society's religious attitudes be seen through literary works that live in the society in question? This question certainly can be answered firmly: it can. Because, according to the sociologist of literature, literature is a mirror of society. As a reflection of society, literary works record everything (through the hands and thoughts of the author) that occur in a society. Therefore, it is believed that modern Javanese literary works also record and simultaneously describe various attitudes or behavior of Javanese society.
