Image of the Russian campaign of 1812 in modern France: anniversary as means of "reformatting" of historical memory

The author analysed the value of historical science and a state policy in the formation of the memory of French about the Russian campaign of 1812. On the basis of the analysis of historical research and mass media, the author came to a conclusion that historians who continued confirm from memory of the Russian campaign in France or correct the settled scientific provisions. Quite obviously what exactly under the influence of historical science the French society began to call in recent years in question certain “truth” of the memory of war of 1812. In turn, the intervention of the state offering to the society “false” patriotism, causes a protest of French in which imagination comical analogies of modern governors to the image of the power of past eras are staticized. Having analysed the transformation of an image of “the Russian campaign” in modern France, you are involuntarily convinced that only natural process of transformation of the past creates a uniform memory of the nation, and the historical policy leads only to its destruction.
