The article is devoted to one of the phenomena accompanying verbal and artistic creativity,
the poetic process of verbal thinking in which poets figuratively comprehend different concepts, including
those characteristic of everyday life. Specific examples from the works of modern poets demonstrates
how poets extend and expand the linguistic semantics of the word- definitions to be used as
material for the works, thus creating a unique and memorable images, marked by unconditional author‘
s personality.
