Description

The lecture concerns a wide analysis and description of all the research activities performed by Sara Porzilli regarding wooden architecture and how to document it. During her PhD she took part in several expeditions to Karelia thank to the opportunity to take part as Early Research Stage in the European Project "Wooden Architecture. Traditional Karelian Timber Architecture and Landscape" (Marie Curie Actions People, Seventh Framework Programme, International Research Staff Exchange Scheme). Acronym: “Wooden Architecture”. ID number: 269185. Scientific Panel: ENV. N. agreenment: PIRSES-GA-2010-269185. Project period: 36 months (2012-2014). The lecture wants to address survey methodologies and procedural approaches in order to build up new updated documentation of a certain wooden heritage. The researches presented are:

- General investigation of wooden architecture in the Northern Europe;

-Description of the actual European Project: "Preserving Wooden Heritage. Methods for monitoring wooden structures: 3D laser scanner survey and application of BIM systems on point cloud models". Horizon 2020 – MARIE S. CURIE ACTIONS – INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP Call: H2020-MSCA-IF-2016. Acronym: PresWoodenHeritage. Scientific Panel: ST-ENG. Duration of the Project: 24 months;

- Laser scanning survey and results obtained for the documentation of the Historic Farmhouse of Lamminaho in Vaala Region, Finland.

- Laser scanning survey and results obtained for the documentation of the Unesco World Heritage Site of the Pogost Complex on Kizhi Island in Karelia, Russia.

- Survey activities, analysis and documentation of karelian wooden villages located around the geographical areas of Vedlozero and Syamozero in Karelia, Russia.
