tci20111004 - Family problems picture task

This dataset contains files recorded for a stimulus task (Social Cognition Picture Task). It was recorded in Rouku village, Western Province, Papua New Guinea. The two main participants are Riley Bäi Abia and his younger brother Taylor Sukawi Abia. In the last part of the task, Riley tells the layed out picture story to Mae Karembu. After this, Taylor tells the story in a first person perspective. For further information on the picture task please visit the project website.

The material was recorded by Christian Döhler as part of a language documentation project for his PhD. The project was located at the School of Culture, History and Language at the Australian National University, Canberra. For the most part it was funded by the DOBES project of the Volkswagen Foundation.
