Description

Occurrence of longhorn beetle Pseudogaurotina excellens (Brancsik, 1874) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in the Babiogórski National Park.
In the years 2010-2013 and 2017 an extensive research was carried out, covering the current distribution of occurrence of the longhorn beetle Pseudogaurotina excellens (Brancsik, 1874) in the forests of the Babiogórski National Park (BgPN) as well as the determination of the appearance period of its imagines. For each found location, the height above the sea level, the exposure, type of the Natura 2000 habitat and indicators of the state of the habitat were determined. As a result of the study, the presence of the species was found at 22 positions located at a height between 790-1370 m above sea level. Most of the identified sites (n = 15) were located in the lower subalpine forest i.e. below 1150 m above sea level, whereas in the upper subalpine forest they were found by half less (n = 7). The locations of the longhorn beetle was found in the following types of Natura 2000 habitats: 9410 Acidophilous Picea forests of the montane to alpine levels Piceion abietis (10 sites), 9130-3 Asperulo-Fagetum beech forests Dentario glandulosae-Fagetum (6 sites), 9180-5 Carpathian sycamore maple forest Sorbo aucupariae-Aceretum pseudoplatani (4 locations) in 91E0-7 Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa & Fraxinus excelsior Caltho laetae-Alnetum (1 site) and in 9110-2 Lusulo-Fagetum beech forests Luzulo luzuloidis-Fagetum (1 site). Mature forms (imagines) of Pseudogaurotina excellens were observed only on 5 positions located at a height of 790 to 1200 m above sea level. All the imagines found were in the typical form of this species. In all found locations, the species occurs rarely, and some of its positions are far apart from each other. The most important habitat for the occurrence of Pseudogaurotina excellens in the BgPN are mountain spruce forests.
