To increase the autonomy of deaf and hard of hearing people in their day-to-day
professional and social lives, in this paper design and initial implementation of a new approach
based on MFCC and Vector Quantization Method is described. This approach includes
analyses of speech to animate the talking head. Our future work will include the conception of
new test types and performance patterns. We are particularly interested in extending this
approach to testing to include implementation of applications under real-time constraints
