Coconut Plant Damaged Attack by Sexava nubila and Oryctes rhinoceros in Kairatu Distric, West Seram Regency

Description

Coconut crop damage in the Regency of West Seram by Sexava nubila and Oryctes rhinoceros in 2010 covering an area of 124.5 ha and 157.5 ha, while in 2011 covering an area of 792.79 ha and 1718.4 ha. The objective of this research was to determine damage intensity on coconut plant caused by Sexava nubila and Oryctes rhinoceros. Survey method was used where sample villages were determined proportionally on villages with the most coconut plantation. From 3 sample villages 10% of farmers who cultivated coconut were choosen then 10 plants were taken from each farmers. The results showed that average damage intensity of coconut plant caused by Sexava nubila was 8.58% while by Oryctes rhinoceros was 9.92%. The highest plant damage intensity by Sexava nubila was 14.88% in Hatusua village and the lowest was 5.31% in Waipirit village. The highest plant damage intensity by Oryctes rhinoceros was 11.96% in Kamarian village and the lowest was 8.68% in Waipirit village.
