FEATURES OF CLINICAL AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PATIENTS WITH MYASTHENIA GRAVIS

Description

Myasthenia gravis is characterized by episodes of muscle weakness and fatigue, which are based on the destruction of acetylcholine receptors by factors of humoral and cellular immunity. It is more common in young women and older men, although it can develop in people of any gender and age. Symptoms worsen with muscle activity and improve with rest. Diagnosis is based on measurement of serum levels of acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibodies, electromyography and bedside tests (ice test, rest test).
