ABSTRACT
The article gives the description of theories which allow us to predict and explain some errors which demonstrate the learners of a foreign language.Сontrastive analysis of errors in pronunciation and the use of grammatical structures in the process of foreign language speech as a result of the interference of the native language was carried out. The article also describes the peculiarities of thinking in English by Ukrainian students. The connection between the theory of interference and the theory of avoidance is traced. The research was conducted with the aim of improving the teaching of a foreign language in non-linguistic higher educational establishments.
