  • 1. Faculty of Technology, University of Bejaia, DZ-06000- Bejaia, Algeria

Description

In response to the important need of access to scholarly Publishing in Global South, especially in the North Africa, many editors have recently promoted OA journals. However, a disconnect between the business model of scholarly publishing, the lack of support and of experience for ensuring the quality and the transparency of the editorial process have perpetuated the  OA publishing in the North Africa. Out of 500 North African Scientific journals listed by the DGRSDT [1] and Moroccan Portal of Scientific Journals [2]. Only 23 (2.46 %) are indexed in the DOAJ [3].

In this communication, we analysis the situation of the North African open access scholarly publishing in order to present potential worst and best practices in implementing policies to help the North African Scientific Journals to become indexed in the international platforms, thereby making them accessible and discoverable for the international community.
