Bychovskiata charadrii

Description

Bychovskiata charadrii (Canestrini, 1878)

Dermaleichus charadrii Canestrini, 1878: 48.

Pterolichus charadrii.— Mégnin & Trouessart 1884e: 215; Radford 1953: 200.

Pterolichus (Eupterolichus) charadrii.— Canestrini & Kramer 1899: 39.

Bychovskiata charadrii.— Dubinin 1951b: 229, 1956: 399; Radford 1958: 126; Mironov & Dabert 1997: 94.

Host and locality in Australia: Australia, unidentified waders (Dubinin 1956).

Current name of host: Unknown.

Notes: The record of this species in Australia is based only on Dubinin (1956: 399–403), but the information there is somewhat ambiguous. Mironov & Dabert (1997) reported that B. charadrii is found only on the Ringed Plover Charadrius hiaticula Linnaeus, 1758 (Charadriiformes: Charadriidae), which does not occur in Australia. The record of this species in Australia may be a misidentification.
