Recorded across Canada from the Northwest Territories east to Nova Scotia with the exception of Saskatchewan (Campbell 1991d); scattered distribution in the Maritime Provinces (Fig. 5). In the United States from Maine south to Maryland and west to Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and South Dakota (Downie & Arnett 1996). Larvae are found in decaying woody sections of mosscovered logs in boreallike areas (e.g. edges of bogs) (Young 2002).
