Macrosmia phalacra Merrett, Sazonov & Shcherbachev 1983

Material examined. 10 specimens: MNRJ 26890 (8, 173.0–77.0 mm), AG, ASTRO 2003082704; MNRJ 26891 (1, 105.6 mm), AG, ASTRO 2003021403; MNRJ 27042 (1, 135.0 mm), T, E-537.

Distribution. First record of Macrosmia phalacra in the WSA. Collected from off Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, at depths from 1060 to 1567 m. It is rare species, known from the type locality in the Ninety East Ridge, Indian Ocean (17°04’ S, 88°09’ E), and few other specimens from the western North Atlantic (Merrett et al. 1983).
