Original description. Playfair 1917, P. 658, Table 38, Fig. 19.

Description. Shell differs from the typical form by the globose or subglobose shell shape; aperture occupies the entire lower surface.

Measurements. Shell length 17–20 µm, shell width 15–18 µm.

Habitats. In thickets of Typha in waterbodies.

Geographical distribution. Australia, Poland, Germany, Greenland, Romania, Vietnam, South Georgia, Crozet and Possession Island.
