Notiphila griseola Fallén, 1813: 250. Syntypes, sex?. Sweden (Skanör) (MZLU).
Distribution: AF: Oman. AU: Australia (Queensland). NE: widespread in Bermuda, Canada and USA. NT: Colombia. OR: Nepal, Philippines, Taiwan. PA: Afghanistan, Algeria, Austria, Azores, Belgium, Canary Is., China (Hefei, Xining, NE Tibet), Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu), Macedonia, Madeira Islands, Malta, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia (European Territory), Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Ukraine, former Yugoslavia.
Egyptian localities: Coastal Strip: Dekheila, Mariout. Lower Nile Valley & Delta: Beni-Sueif (Sids) (Deeming, 2002: 53), Cairo, Giza [Hafez (1947) recorded this species on cow dung from Giza]. Sinai: Abu- Zeneima. Upper Nile Valley: Asswan.
Dates of collection: November to April.
