Description

Hebesuncus conjungens (Thulin 1911)

The specimens of this species present narrow buccal and pharyngeal tubes with no drop between them. Double-claws are short and robust Hypsibius type. Ocular spots were found only in one out of the 12 specimens found. Body size was 242 to 605 μm, mean 400 μm (SD 84). The species has been cited for Europe, Asia, America, Oceania and Antarctica. In the Iberian Peninsula, it has been recorded for Portugal (Da Cunha 1941; Fontoura 1981). It is the first time it is recorded for Spain (Table 2). Hebesuncus conjungens appeared at two of our sampling points (Table 3) but always in LF samples.
