Ecology. Eurybathic species, collected at depths from 49 (Peña Cantero 2008) to 799 m (Peña Cantero et al. 2002). On rocky bottoms (Stepanjants 1979). Epibiotic on bryozoans (Stepanjants 1979), polychaete tubes (Peña Cantero 2008; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009), gorgonians (Peña Cantero & García Carrascosa 1995; Peña Cantero 2008; 2010) and hydroids (Stepanjants 1979; Peña Cantero & García Carrascosa 1995; Peña Cantero et al. 2002; Peña Cantero 2006; 2008; 2010; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009). Basibiont for other species of hydroids (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009). Gonothecae: January (Stepanjants 1979), February (Peña Cantero et al. 2002; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009; Peña Cantero 2010) and December (Stepanjants 1979).

Distribution. Circum-Antarctic (Stepanjants 1979). West Antactica: south of Snow Hill, Graham Land (Jäderholm 1917), Low Island (Blanco 1984; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009), Peter I Island (Blanco & Bellusci de Miralles 1972; Peña Cantero 2010), the South Orkney Islands and the South Shetland Islands (Stepanjants 1979), King George Island (Peña Cantero & García Carrascosa 1995) and Livingston Island (Peña Cantero 2006; 2008), in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula (Peña Cantero 2008), east coast of the Weddell Sea (Peña Cantero et al. 2002), Bransfield Island and Bransfield Strait (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009). East Antarctica: off Cape Adare, in the Ross Sea (Totton 1930). Doubtful record from off Marion and Prince Edward islands, in sub-Antarctic waters (Branch & Williams 1993).
