Haemulopsis leuciscus
Description
Haemulopsis leuciscus (Günther, 1864).
Raucous Grunt or White Grunt. To 41 cm (16.1 in) TL (Rojo-Vázquez et al. 2009). Walker et al. (2020) report the catch of what was likely Haemulopsis axillaris (Steindachner, 1869) from San Diego Bay, southern California, but note that the specimen may have been a small H. leuciscus; Bahía de San Quintin, northern Baja California (Rosales-Casian and Ruiz-Campos 1999) to Peru (Robertson and Allen 2015), including Gulf of California (McKay and Schneider in Fischer et al. 1995). Marine, brackish, and fresh waters (Fricke et al. 2020); depth: 0–134 m (440 ft) (min.: Robertson and Allen 2002; max.: Amezcua Linares 1996).
