Shoulderspine Bigscale. To 11.2 cm (4.4 in) SL (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Northern California (40°11’N, 125°12’W) (Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California) to Chile (Pequeño 1989). Mesopelagic and bathypelagic; depth: 320–3,500 m (1,050 – 11,480 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California; max.: Ebeling 1962); young fish shallower.
