Dorosoma petenense

Description

** Dorosoma petenense (Günther, 1867).

Threadfin Shad. To 33 cm (13 in) TL (Moyle 2002). Native to the southeastern United States and south to Belize. Introduced to West Coast. Off Oregon (Eschmeyer and Herald 1983) to San Diego Bay, southern California (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) and Gulf of California (Whitehead and Rodríguez-Sánchez in Fischer et al. 1995). Shallow fresh, brackish, and marine waters.
