Proctolaelaps novus Lombardini 1960, new combination

Description

Proctolaelaps novus (Lombardini , 1960) new combination

Cosmolaelaps ? novus Lombardini, 1960: 256.

Cosmolaelaps ? novus.— Moreira et al., 2014: 322

TYPE DEPOSITORY: not stated.

TYPE LOCALITY AND HABITAT: Buenos Aires, Argentina, in nest of Acromyrmex lundi (Insecta: Formicidae). NOTE: we have provisionally placed this species in Proctolaelaps on the basis of the shape of the anal shield with enlarged anus, and the form of the spermatodactyl and epistome. Lombardini (1960: 256) described and illustrated five setae on the anal shield of this species. We believe that was an error, but that can only be confirmed by examination of the types or new material from the type locality.
