Description

This dataset contains the complete database used for the Systematic Mapping Study (SMS) titled “Assessing Complex and Computational Thinking in Higher Education: Indicators, Instruments, and Digital Tools (2014–2024)”.

The dataset was constructed following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to analyze how Complex and Computational Thinking (CCT) has been assessed in higher education. It includes 42 empirical studies retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science and coded in Microsoft Excel by year, region, discipline, sub-skills, research methods, assessment instruments, and technologies.

The database supports quantitative frequency analysis and descriptive synthesis presented in the published article and can be reused for meta-analyses, bibliometric visualization, or comparative studies on the evaluation of higher-order competencies.

Each record contains bibliographic information, methodological descriptors, and coded variables aligned with the taxonomy proposed in the study.

This dataset contributes to transparency and replicability in research on CCT assessment and aims to assist educators, researchers, and policymakers interested in advancing evidence-based frameworks for evaluating complex and computational thinking in higher education.
