Description

This archive contains micro-CT .txm data of bone calluses collected during a bone lengthening and regeneration study at different time points after surgery [1]. The experiments were performed on the ovine metatarsus.

An external fixator was surgically implanted, and the metatarsus was divided into two bone segments. After a latency period of 1 week, the bone segments were distracted at a rate of 1 mm/day for 15 days, resulting in a 15-mm defect. At designated time points, the animals were sacrificed, and micro-CT scans of the regenerated bone were acquired.

Micro-CT imaging was performed using a Cougar tomography® system (Y.Cougar SMT, Yxlon, Hudson, Ohio, United States) with the following parameters:

  • Optical magnification: ×4
  • Exposure time: 9 s
  • Voxel size: 3.72 µm
  • Source setting: 50 kV, 90 µA
  • Field of view: ~25 × 25 × 25 mm

The datasets are named according to the following convention: XXDays_recon.txm, where XX indicates the number of days after surgery at which the animal was sacrificed and the sample imaged.
