Dataset: Orchids of Asturias (NW Iberia)

Here is included the dataset used for the following research paper: González-García V, Argüelles Longo Á & Carlón Ruiz, L (2025) Orchids of the Principality of Asturias (Northwestern Spain). Mediterranean Botany 46(2). ACCEPTED. 

In this dataset we provide information for all the records of orchidaceae family in the Principality of Asturias (Northwestern Spain) until November 30, 2025. This dataset includes for every record:

(i) genus

(ii) specific epithet

(iii) infraspecific epithet

(iv) complete taxon name

(v) locality in Spanish

(vi) locality in English

(vii) municipality

(viii) altitude in meters above sea level

(ix) UTM grid with an accuracy of 10 km

(x) date of the record

(xi) habitat category, according to EUNUS classification at level 1: anthropic (I+J+V), coastal (N), forests (T), grasslands (R), screes (U), shrublands (S), wetlands (C+D+Q)

(xii) phenology of the observed plant: rosette, rosette-flowering, unopen flowers, flowering, flowering-in fruit, in fruit, aborted flowers

(xiii) source category of the record: author's observation, bibliography, citizen science, herbarium, personal communication, social Media, specialized webgraphy, unspecialized webgraphy

(xiv) reference of the record

(xv) notes, comments and observations related to the record
