Arquitectura 'Low-Cost': Como reconstruir uma cidade na hora do sono
Description
During a period of limited construction activity, the emergence of hostels in renovated buildings throughout the city of Porto is portrayed in this text not only as a professional opportunity for local architecture offices, but also as a strategy to establish a network capable of revitalizing both the urban fabric and the local economy.
Through relatively modest, small-scale interventions, this form of “low-cost” architecture is also seen as indicative of a broader transformation in the profession—adapting to the socio-economic conditions of the time, in a context still marked by the aftermath of the global subprime mortgage crisis.
